 Fillings

Fillings

Fillings  To treat a cavity the dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then “fill” the area on the tooth where the decayed material was removed. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down. Most fillings at our office are tooth colored composite fillings. We also have other types of filling material, such as metal, we use for certain situations.

 Bridge & Crowns

Bridges

Crown  A crown is a word for the prosthetic replacement for the entire surface of a tooth that is visibly seen. A term that the public often uses for this is a cap. Our office now provides the newest of technology. We now offer a crown procedure that allows us to scan the tooth for an impression and fabricate a porcelain crown in office. Then cement the crown the same day. This means, no temporary and no second appointment!

Bridge  A bridge is commonly used to define the replacement of a missing tooth or teeth by suspending the missing tooth replacement off a crown on the teeth to either side of the missing tooth space. The artificial tooth is called a pontic and the teeth which carry the crowns are called abutments.

Crown and Bridge can be made of metal, porcelain, or a combination of metal and porcelain. When a porcelain crown or bridge is made, the shade is carefully selected to match the surrounding teeth.

The process of making a crown includes many steps that start in our office with preparing the teeth and taking impressions to form the tooth/teeth involved. Then a temporary crown or bridge is placed on your teeth. The impressions are sent to the lab. In the lab a mold of the teeth is poured and the work begins to make your crown. In 2 weeks you will return and the temporary will be removed and the custom crown fit permanently.

 Veneers

Veneers

Porcelain Veneers –  In most cases, porcelain veneers are the longest lasting, and most beautiful way to change the appearance of your teeth. Properly done, they are very conservative of tooth structure. Results can be life changing for those who want to improve their smile and appearance. Unlike a crown only the front part of the tooth is prepped. The veneer covers the front part of the tooth and wraps slightly around to the other side. Shades are carefully picked to give the patient the smile they deserve!

 Root Canals

Root Canals

Root Canal Treatment –  The pulp (nerve) is soft tissue inside the tooth that contains blood vessels and nerves. When the pulp is diseased or injured and unable to repair itself, it dies. The most common causes of pulp death are, a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, problems with large fillings, or serious injury to the tooth. All of these can allow bacteria to enter into the pulp. If the problem pulp is not removed, the tissues around the root of the tooth can become infected, often resulting in pain and swelling. Even if there is no pain, bacteria can damage the bone that anchors the tooth in the jaw. Without treatment, the tooth may have to be pulled.

 Implant Restorations

Implants

Dental Implant Restorations –  After being evaluated for an implant, the patient will see an oral surgeon to have an implant placed. Time will allow the bone to integrate around the implant. Then an abutment will be placed by the oral surgeon which will allow the dentist to take an impression to have a custom crown made to give the patient a tooth in the space.

Denture implants are also placed to anchor dentures to prevent them from moving around. This will make it easier for the patient to eat!

 Night Guards

TMJ –  TMJ is the joint that connects the lower and upper jaw. The term TMJ stands for Tempro-Mandibular Joint. This is one of the most complicated joints of the whole body. It allows forward and backward movements as well as rotations, and side to side movements.

TMJ is often referred to as the complications and problems with the joint. Some of the most common symptoms of TMJ problems are:

– Pain
– Limitation of movement of the lower jaw
– Clicking sounds
– Muscle spasm
– Locking of the jaw

If you experience any TMJ problems or symptoms the doctor will possibly recommend a Night Guard, Bite Guard, or Bite Adjustments.

 Sealants

Fillings

Sealants –  Sealants are thin layers of resin that are placed on the pits and fissures (grooves) of the molars to prevent decay in these surfaces.

Majority of the decay on back teeth start on the grooves, due to this being our chewing areas. Sealing these surfaces with tooth colored resin prevents the possibility of decay. Most children have sealants done on permanent molars in back at around age 6. Children get 6 year molars and then 12 year molars. Sealing these as soon as possible is a great preventative.

 Dentures & Partials

Dentures

Dentures –  Acrylic Dentures are made by a three step process. This ensures a better fit. Teeth are carefully picked to help give you the look you are comfortable with.

Partials – Our partials are called Flex Partials. They are all acrylic and the clasps are acrylic (tissue colored). This is a light weight partial and people who have had metal partials have loved changing to this type.

We also can do the metal partials for certain cases.

We also provide dentures which attach to implants to give the patient better retention.

Call today for a consult to hear your options! Let us give you your smile you want!

 Extractions

Extractions

Extractions –  When a tooth is not savable, Dr. will advise the patient to extract the tooth. Dr. will do extractions in office as long as the patient is not medically compromised. Simple and Surgical Extractions are done here.

We also, have the option of using Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) to make the procedure easier on the patient.

 Teeth Cleaning

Teeth Cleaning

Prophylaxis (Teeth Cleaning) –  Our office has two Registered Dental Hygienists. Cleanings are done in a comfortable atmosphere. Digital X-rays are taken to help the Dr. diagnose any decay or problems the patient may be having. The teeth are cleaned comfortable and pain free with an ultrasonic unit. Then gently scaled, flossed, and polished to give the patient a clean fresh feeling!

 Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening – Teeth stain during our lifetime due to consumption of a variety of food and drinks (Coke, coffee, tea etc…). New and different technology of teeth whitening has enabled dentists to whiten teeth without any change to the tooth structure.

One method of professional whitening is done in the convenience of your home. After an impression is taken in the office and a custom tray is made for the patient, a supply of whitening gel is given to the patient with simple instructions to follow at home to achieve your whitening goals.
